Due to a recent spate of nuisance (not cycling related) postings of commercial web links, by unknown bloggers, to this previously public-access blog post, this blog is now restricted as follows:

1. CTC Members have permission to Read and Comment to this blog after account login.

2. CTC Members wishing to share important cycling news items on the club's Home page can email their content to the Web Editor at ctctouring@gmail.com.  Note: NEWS post requests will appear at the discretion of the Web Editor.  Importantly, there are uncensored member discussion forums for posting.

    Fellow CTC Members,

    We are pleased to announce the results of the 2015 Cleveland Touring Club Advocacy Referendum:

    Club Members Votes: 97 votes were in favor (YES) and 3 votes were against (NO):  2015 Referendum Results.tiff

    The approved donations of $3,500 are to be distributed to the organizations listed below as follows:

    • Bike Cleveland:  $1000 for road signage to be used in eastern Cuyahoga County, as well as Lake and Geauga counties.
    • Ohio City Bicycle Co-op (OCBC):  $750
    • North Chagrin Reservation (Cleveland Metroparks):  $750 to be used to rehabilitate the water stop by the Nature Center
    • Kirtland Library:  $250 for the children’s program
    • Ohio Bicycle Federation:  $750

    Question: What is "Bike Camp"?
      Answer: A great intro course for new riders and cyclists who've done some group riding but would like to learn more about riding in a group, safety, maintenance, etc.  The course is hosted by our friends at Bike Ohio, and is based on a proven course design offered for years by the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club.

After the intro session on April 18th, which is "classroom" only, all subsequent sessions have a brief "classroom" discussion or workshop followed by a group ride.

    Session Dates/Location/Registration Contact:
    April 18 - Camp Overview and Cycling Basics (no ride)
    May 2 - Bike Fitting & Ride Safety; Group Ride
    May 9 - Changing a Flat; Basic Maintenance; Group Ride
    May 16 - Effective Riding; Nutrition/Hydration; Group Ride
    May 23 - Group Etiquette; Hazard Avoidance; Group Ride

    - Cost is $25 for 5 sessions with every penny going to VeloSano.
    - All sessions start/end at Bike Ohio and run from 8:30-10:30AM Saturdays.
    - Location is: 8576 E. Washington Street Chagrin Falls, OH 44023 (Bike Ohio is in same plaza as “The Cowboy” and Sherwin Williams, behind CVS)
    - First session is classroom only.
    - Remaining sessions are ~30 mins classroom and end with group rides
    - For group rides, participants will divide into smaller groups with distance and pace based on your preference / ability.
    - All ages welcome; under 18 parent/guardian must accompany for rides.

    By popular demand - We're heading back to the Niagara Region for a great weekend of summer cycling! Reserve your room now from CTC's block of special rate rooms by calling the event host hotel, St. Catherine's Days Inn, directly at 1-905-934-5400. When booking you must state you're with the "Cleveland Touring Club event", and the room nights needed - you can extend your stay earlier/later than the event schedule. Note: A group is riding early Friday morning of July 24 and also on Monday, July 27, and has extended their stay already,

    Note: If Days Inn CTC rooms not available when you call, then contact Canada's Best Value Inn at 1-905-688-1646, where additional discounted rooms are pre-held, and state you're with Cleveland Touring Club, as above.
